“Superman is weak, ineffectual, and vaguely effeminate.”
Agreed. What they did to his character in this installment was appalling. Superman hasn’t always been my absolute favorite superhero, but what they did to him here was just heartbreaking.
Reeves was a good Superman for the cinematic environment in which his films were made, though I found them to be ridiculously boring. However, I was a big fan of Tom Welling/Smallville.
It will probably not surprise you in the slightest, Josh, when I say I really enjoyed Superman 😁
Yes, it’s way too long and the CGI is not the best, but I did find it strangely affecting. I was also prepared for the goofy tone cause I knew it was based on the graphic novel, All Star Superman, which my son read and said was quite old fashioned and had that “Aw Shucks”vibe. However, even my normal check point for all things movies over the last 35 years, Empire magazine, didn’t like it, so it clearly doesn’t work for a lot of folks 👍🏼
I admit, I bought into the hype when I first saw this movie, but as I thought about it, it just didn’t make that much sense and pales in comparison to the Supermen of the past: Christopher Reeves, Tom Welling, Henry Cavill.

The ONLY movies that truly do the character justice are the Henry Cavill films, which, coincidentally enough, are the ones that are most maligned.
Oh Henry did an excellent job, without a doubt. My absolute favorite though has always been Christopher Reeve. But that’s me.
What are your thoughts on Christopher Reeves and Tom Welling as Clark Kent/Superman?

That’s fair. I only ask because Reeves is often held up as the standard, but I agree, Tom is my favorite.

Haha, somehow I just KNEW it!

Josh, I’ve only walked out on two movies in my life. One was Superman III (1983). So I hear you. That said, I happened to like this last one.
Can't win 'em all, I guess 🤷♂️
I liked it! I mean, it's a comic book movie and it felt like one. I liked the Snyder ones too.
We're just gonna have agree to disagree on this one. The fact that it's a comic book movie doesn't excuse the shitty filmmaking.
I mean, The Dark Knight, X2, and V for Vendetta are also comic book movies 🤷♂️
I always got the sense they didn't necessarily want to be comic book movies, though.
I'll agree Lois Lane would have served the movie better in a different way, probably on the crew rather than the cast.
