I liked Disney back when they made movies like "The Black Hole," "Flight of the Navigator," "Daniel Boone," and "Tarzan."

However, once they started making the cutesy cartoons, I watched as they devolved into identity politics and the creepy pedophilic/ grooming shit.

It's a shame, considering that once upon a time, Disney told a really good story.

You say “in no particular order” but clearly the last entry is number 1 😁

No Aladdin is another bold call 🤔

Never been a huge Frozen fan but do like Tangled

Also, I went to see The Marvels at the weekend and it’s not that bad. I’m writing a quick article about that and another movie I’m watching this week. However, it’s poor box office did make me look back at other entries post Endgame. Spider-Man made $2 billion, Guardians 3 - $900m, Dr Strange - $700m and Ant-Man 3 - $500m. So that’s over $4 billion in 4 movies. For a franchise that’s struggling it’s still turning over massive numbers so it’s not going anywhere. Also the finale of Loki was genuinely great so that they can get it right if they try 👍🏼

Haha, my not-so-subtle hinting that Beauty and the Beast is my favorite.

I never was a big Aladdin fan. I basically thought it was fine.

I liked the first season of Loki, but I axed Disney+ after the latest season of Mando, so I'm not hip to whatever is happening on there these days.

Ah, sorry about my message then 🙏

I seem to miss loads of stuff on Notes for some reason 😠

Good luck on getting back to it. Hope the inspiration comes soon 👍🏼

I mean, if you want an extremely inconsequential 2 minute interlude as a stopgap, I can actually oblige you, haha.

I won't lie I'd like a more extensive B&B essay out of you mon ami, I have to ask what your thoughts on Brother Bear and Lion King are? Genuinely curious.

I think I watched Brother Bear once. I thought it was so boring that I basically wiped it from my memory. Lion King was one of my favorite movies for a long time, but it got so overexposed and overrated to the point where I sort of got exhausted with it. However, if I were to expand this list to a Top Ten, it would probably be on there.

How do you find Brother Bear boring? Genuinely asking that, it's cut in the mould of a Greek tragedy.

As to LK yeah it does tend to get hyped up quite a bit I will admit.

I can't remember specifically what it was that I found so off-putting, I just know that I didn't like it very much.

Oh okay, but I recommend giving it another watch attempt, as it can be quite good.

My all-time favorite is "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", but Beauty and the Beast is right behind it. Also, I agree, The Emperor's New Groove is just hilarious. "For the last time, we did not order a giant trampoline!"

I've never seen Hunchback. As a kid, I wasn't allowed to watch that, Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, or Hercules because, in the words of my mother, the girls "dressed like whores."

Been there; I didn't get to see a movie in a theatre until I Spider-Man 3 as I was raised believing that you might miss the Rapture if you were in one at the time.

This legit made me LOL because my parents were almost on this level. I can definitely sympathize.

*unless* of course it was an IMAX theatre and you were on a youth group trip to watch a documentary. That didn't count.

(It wasn't so much my parents' fault specifically; it was a very particular non-denominational sort of thing I was raised in but aren't in anymore. Long story).

If Disney is guilty of anything, it's taking their audience for granted. The engine of their success has been multi-generational appeal, and that's harder to achieve in the Internet era than it was previously.

But when people badmouth them, I just remember all the good they brought into my life and that drowns out their critics, who are largely using the studio subconsciously to vent about their own flaws.
