It had been over twenty years since the last time I was in New York City. The one thing I remembered was that it smelled like pee everywhere. As we stepped out of Moynihan Train Hall and into the open air of the city at 12:30 on a Sunday morning (completely wiped out after a fifteen hour train ride up the East Coast), my senses were assailed by the all too familiar scent of human excrement, now with the overpowering aroma of wacky tobacky thrown in for good measure. In spite of the unsavory odors vying for dominance of my olfactory nerve, I was awestruck by the invigorating vibes of the city at night.
The next four days were a whirlwind of endless strolls through Manhattan, brisk sightseeing, gluttonous dining, and extortionate shopping. By the time it was all said and done, I had gained a newfound appreciation and affection for a place that I have long held in contempt. Ignoring my usual inclination to wax poetic, I’ve decided to share some of my favorite photos from this extraordinary adventure with the one and only Mrs. Has Thoughts (

I've not been to New York. Nor have I been to Tokyo. But I'm surprised at how much photos of New York now look like photos of Tokyo. (Though I'll bet there aren't as many unpleasant smells in the latter).
Great TravelLog, Babe. Thanks for finally no longer *blaming* me for *dragging* you there… 😜
