Crude, but I like your satirical, political pieces.

I saw a video where this actually happened, so I was just trying to imagine the guy's thought process 🤷‍♂️

I always thought "shit for brains" was just a metaphor - but now I am no longer sure... 5/5 commentary.

Stunning. Brave. I'd say everyone clapped, but that'd be ableist.

There’s a reason this piece had to be written as an allegory with dumbed-down language. Make the argument it makes in totally factual terms, with reference to actual people and events only, and the argument collapses into incomprehensibility.

The sarcastic contention that none of the -isms really exist is an especially egregious piece of sophistry. As far as I know, no one has accused Elon Musk of “all the -isms.” Certain folks have accused him of certain -isms, and what’s more, Musk has proven them correct on some of those scores with his own choices. But trying to exculpate him with a claim that such things simply don’t exist, generally speaking, is hyperbolic and then some!

I’m not in the habit of attacking or criticizing the pieces people post for Sci-Friday, even when I disagree with them. But I have to, in this case. This is parading itself as clever and, worse, folks are calling it clever, presumably because they agree with its politics and they’ve temporarily switched their brains off. Clever this is not. Smart satire it is not. Fully aware of the political moment it comments on, it is not.

You want to lampoon the folks vandalizing Teslas? Be my guest! I agree they have shit for brains. I think what they’re doing is counterproductive to their own goals. But saying it’s happening “because TV” is a facile take that totally ignores what Musk has done and why it’s making people angry, even irrationally angry. You can write something more incisive about this, and you can even do that with allegory, but to do it, you have to get out of axe-grinding mode and think deeper about the situation — the whole of it.
