Just watched it yesterday. It was stunning. I agree about the casual violence toward servants and staff. So brutal and not really necessary. Or at least, only needed to be done once by each character. But, lead me to paradise - I won't miss the third one.
Given the scope of the book, I think the films did a great job of showing what they could. Would I have picked different scenes to omit or include? Probably, but not too many. Dune(s) is/are definitely one of the best sci-fi movies ever made.
Loved reading through this, and loved watching the movie. I have to agree that Dave Bautista could have done with some more screen time (even though I have no idea where they would've fit him in). I thought he pulled off his character really well and (whilst I understand why) I was a little disappointed when they got rid of him. I don't think I've seen anyone else mention it, to be honest, so I'm glad I've got at least one other person to share that feeling with
I’m a big Dune fan, having read—and mostly enjoyed—all six of Herbert’s books, but have not seen ANY Dune movie or TV show. I think I’m going to have to watch this.
I stopped reading the books after Children of Dune. It was getting too weird for my tastes. I've been thinking about giving the series another go, though.
The last three books are weird but God Emperor of Dune is the kind of trip that’s worth reading. It’s really the crux of Herbert’s philosophy.
The last two books are fun, still out there, and show a promising new direction before Herbert died. They were, however, full of some half-baked ideas that deserved more.
I’m definitely in the minority but I still thought it was a great spectacle but just didn’t have that emotional connection
Chani is interesting. I think they did need to have a counter balance to Stilgar and Lady Jessica being such fervent believers. Again, maybe that could just have just been reflected in Paul’s reluctance to accept the role
How did you find the score? Not too loud? Probably just me being an old codger 😁

I'll admit I have a crush on Timothee Chalamet. Did I just say that aloud? I did. Bad me.

You’re a film nerd. I love you. 🤓
Glad you enjoyed it, Josh 👍🏼

I actually thought it was a lot more subdued compared to the first film.
So, yup, me being an old codger is confirmed 😆
